Chicken Cacciatore - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    2 1/2 to 3 lb. fryer chicken, cut in pieces and skinned
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 to 2 tsp. crushed oregano leaves
    1/2 tsp. basil leaf
    1 bay leaf
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
    1/4 c. water or dry white wine
Preparation
    Place sliced onions in bottom of slow cooker.
    Add chicken, seasonings, tomatoes, sauce, mushrooms and water or wine.
    Cover; cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
    Serve chicken with sauce over hot buttered spaghetti, linguine or vermicelli.
    Serves 6.
