Surprise Meat Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 c. dry medium bread crumbs
2/3 c. diced process American cheese
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
2 tsp. salt
dash of thyme
dash of garlic salt
2 beaten eggs
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp. catsup
2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper

Preparation

Combine all ingredients except catsup and mold in greased loaf pan.
Invert on shallow 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch baking pan. Bake in moderate oven for 30 minutes.
Score top of loaf diagonally with knife handle; fill lines with catsup.
Return to oven and bake 30 to 40 minutes longer.
Makes 8 servings.
