Beef Casserole Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 to 3 lb. beef chuck, cut into 2-inch chunks
    1/4 c. flour
    4 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
    6 medium carrots, cut in 2-inch chunks
    3 ribs celery, cut in 1-inch chunks
    3 medium onions, chopped
    1 c. water
    1/4 c. dry sherry
    1/4 c. soy sauce
    1 or 2 green peppers, chopped
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Layer half of the meat, sprinkled with 1/4 cup flour.
    Add potatoes, carrots, celery and onions.
    Sprinkle remaining flour; repeat layers.
    Mix water, sherry, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Pour over all.
    Cover and bake 2 to 2 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
    Add green peppers and cook 20 minutes longer.
