Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. cut dates
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks (save whites)
    1 1/2 c. flour
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients together; let stand and cool.
    Cream together butter, sugar and egg yolks.
    Add flour and pinch of salt to cream mixture.
    Add date mixture to cream mixture.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Add egg whites to creamed mixture.
    Bake in greased and floured pan at 350\u00b0 for 1/2 hour.
