"Candy Cane" Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. confectioners sugar
    2 Tbsp. water
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. Quaker oats (uncooked)
Preparation
    Beat butter and vanilla until creamy.
    Add sugar gradually; beat until fluffy.
    Add water.
    Sift together flour and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing thoroughly.
    Stir in oats until blended. Dough will be stiff.
    Shape into canes.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake in a slow oven at 325\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Cool. Frost canes with thin confectioners sugar icing.
    Stripe with thick red frosting.
    Makes 36, depending on the size of the canes.
