Vegetable Ham Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. dried navy beans
    1 (3 lb.) meaty ham bone
    3 qt. water
    1 1/2 c. chopped carrots
    1 1/2 c. chopped potatoes
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Rinse and soak beans overnight.
    Combine beans, bone and water in large Dutch oven.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat; cover and simmer 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
    Remove ham and bone.
    Chop ham and add ham and remaining ingredients to beans.
    Simmer 30 minutes.
