Old Fashioned Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Combine flour, soda and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles corn meal.
    Add buttermilk, stirring with a fork until moistened.
    Turn dough out on well floured surface.
    Knead lightly 4 or 5 times.
    Can make drop or rolled dumplings.
    Roll dough and cut 4 x 1/2-inch pieces.
    Drop 1 piece at a time into boiling broth.
    Cook 15 to 20 minutes.
