Alphabet Pretzels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    4 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, lightly beaten with 1 Tbsp. water
    coarse-grained salt (preferably kosher salt)
Preparation
    Dissolve water and yeast.
    Mix flour, sugar and salt.
    Beat egg lightly with 1 tablespoon water.
    With a large spoon, work flour mixture into yeast mixture in a large bowl.
    When about 3 cups of flour have been worked in, begin to knead the mixture on a countertop, while working in the remaining mix.
    Divide the dough into 18 to 24 parts.
    Shape the dough into letters and place on greased pans.
    \"Paint\" with egg-water mixture and sprinkle with salt.
    Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown at 425\u00b0.
