Basic Roll Dough - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
2 1/4 tsp. salt
4 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. lukewarm water
1 pkg. or cake yeast
4 1/2 c. flour (about)
Preparation

Scald milk.
Stir in sugar, salt and shortening.
Cool to lukewarm.
Sprinkle or crumble yeast into water.
Let stand until dissolved.
Stir.
Add lukewarm milk mixture.
Add about half the flour.
Beat until smooth.
Stir in additional flour.
Turn out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead.
Place in a greased bowl and brush top lightly with shortening.
Cover and let rise in a warm place free from draft until doubled in bulk.
Punch down and shape into rolls.
Let rise until doubled in size.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes depending on shape of roll.
