German Apple Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 to 3 Tbsp. ice water
Preparation

In a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle with vanilla and stir in 1 tablespoon of water at a time, stirring until pastry holds together.
Shape into a ball on a lightly floured surface; roll the dough to 1/8-inch thick.
Transfer to a 9-inch pie plate and trim and flute edges.
