Indiana Picnic Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 stick margarine
2 c. brown sugar (light)
2 c. flour
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Mix first 4 ingredients together and take out 1/2 cup to use later to sprinkle over top of Picnic Cake.
To remaining mixture, add remaining ingredients.
Add all the latter group of ingredients at once and mix until smooth (can be slightly lumpy). Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan that has been oiled and floured. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of sugar topping that has been retained over the top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
May be done at 30 minutes.
