Jambalaya - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. diced onion
    1/4 c. diced green pepper
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
    1 small bay leaf
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    2 c. cooked rice
Preparation
    Melt butter in skillet on medium heat.
    Add onion, pepper and beef.
    Cook until meat is brown.
    Drain off excess fat.
    Drain tomatoes, measuring juice.
    Add water to juice to make 2 cups.
    Add juice, tomatoes, sugar, salt, thyme and bay leaf.
    Cover and simmer 5 minutes, then add rice.
    Simmer 5 more minutes.
    Discard bay leaf.
    Serves 4.
