Shaker Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers, sliced
    3 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    4 onions, sliced
    3 c. white vinegar
    1 tsp. alum
    1 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Fill a gallon jar with the sliced cucumbers and onions.
    Mix with the remaining ingredients.
    Put in refrigerator.
    Shake every day for 6 days.
    Ready to eat on the seventh day.
