Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 tsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
Mix cocoa and food coloring.
Add to creamed mixture.
Add buttermilk alternately with sifted flour and salt.
Stir in vanilla.
Add soda to vinegar.
Blend into first mixture (do not beat).
For a 2 layer cake, grease and flour 2 (9-inch) pans and bake 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
(This cake has an unusual texture.)
