English Cream Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. sugar
    4 Tbsp. butter
    2 eggs
    4 tsp. tartar or 2 tsp. double acting baking powder
    1/2 c. milk
    1/4 tsp. water
    2/3 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Sift into mixing bowl, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder; work in butter.
    In another bowl, add eggs (reserve a small amount of egg white for topping) and beat.
    Add eggs to flour mixture with milk (you may add a little more milk to make the dough just firm enough to handle, but not soft).
    Turn out onto a board and knead for about 1/4 minute.
    Pat and roll into an oblong about 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut in diamonds with a sharp knife.
    Brush with water and sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
