Mom'S Dumplings(Yields 10 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. cold broth
    1 egg
Preparation
    Put flour in a large bowl.
    Cut in shortening.
    Stir in pepper.
    Add egg and liquid.
    Blend until all flour is moist. Roll out dough on floured board.
    Roll dough to about 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut rolled dough into small pieces (2 x 3-inch).
    Set aside.
    Bring stock to a boil and drop dumplings in, one at a time, until all is added.
    Drop heat to simmer and cook for about 30 minutes.
