Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head cabbage, shredded
    1 onion, chopped
    6 tsp. margarine
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    8 oz. American cheese
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
Preparation
    Cook cabbage in boiling salted water until tender; drain thoroughly.
    In a large skillet, saute onion in 5 tablespoons of butter until tender.
    Add soup and mix well.
    Add cheese; heat and stir until melted.
    Remove from the heat.
    Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper.
    Pour in 2-quart baking dish.
    Cook and stir crumbs in butter in small skillet until browned.
    Sprinkle over casserole.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes.
