Swedish Meat Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean beef
    1/2 lb. lean pork
    1/2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    dash of nutmeg and allspice
    1 egg
    1/2 c. bread crumbs
    1 c. milk (coffee if you like)
    2 to 3 Tbsp. fine, minced onion
    1 tsp. sugar (optional)
Preparation
    Have meats ground together two or three times.
    Pour milk or coffee on bread crumbs and let stand 10 minutes.
    Fry onion in butter and mix with other ingredients.
    Shape into small balls and brown in hot shortening or butter.
    Remove meatballs when browned. Make a gravy from pan drippings by adding a bouillon cube dissolved in water.
    Thicken with flour.
    Milk or cream may be added if you wish.
    Return meatballs to gravy and simmer until meatballs are hot.
