Cherry-Apple Lattice Tart - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 or 11 oz.) pkg. pie crust mix
    1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
    1 large sweet cooking apple (such as Rome Beauty, about 12 oz.), peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch chunks (about 2 c.)
    1/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. ground allspice
    2/3 c. slivered almonds, toasted and coarsely chopped (see note)
Preparation
    Prepare crust according to package directions.
    Roll out on lightly floured surface to 11-inch circle.
    Fit dough into a 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom, pressing gently but firmly against bottom and sides. Roll rolling pin over top of pan to trim off excess dough.
    Place pan in freezer 10 minutes.
