Rio Grande Chili - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 onion
2 Tbsp. butter
1 lb. ground beef
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. basil
2 c. water
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes with juice
1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
1 tsp. salt
1 bay leaf
Preparation

Peel and chop onion.
Melt butter in the frying pan over low heat.
Add onion and saute until soft and golden.
Add the meat and stir until browned.
Put meat mixture in a large saucepan and add remaining ingredients.
Simmer until sauce has become thick, about one hour.
Stir often.
