Apricot Bars - cooking recipe

2/3 c. dried apricots
1/2 c. margarine
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. flour
powdered sugar
Preparation

Rinse apricots and boil for 10 minutes; drain.
Cool.
Chop into fine pieces.
In small bowl, mix margarine, sugar and 1 cup flour until crumbly.
In greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan, pat mixture down and bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Sift together 1/3 cup flour, baking powder and salt; then mix on low speed, brown sugar and eggs.
Add flour mixture; mix well.
Stir in vanilla, apricots and nuts.
Spread over semi-cooled baked layer and bake 30 minutes longer at 350\u00b0.
Cool completely; cut into 1 x 2-inch strips and dust with powdered sugar.
