Maple-Apple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 Tbsp. butter
2 medium sized tart apples
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground mace or allspice
2 large eggs
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. maple syrup
5 maraschino cherries, halved
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. milk

Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a 9-inch round skillet.
Stir in syrup and mix well.
Core apples.
Slice in 1/2-inch rounds and arrange in the syrup, placing an end slice skin side down.
Arrange cherries in and around apple slices. Peel remaining apple pieces and chop or grate to make about 2/3 cup.
