Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 generous qt. cucumbers
1 onion
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
approximately 1 to 1 1/2 qt. water
1/4 c. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. vinegar
1 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation

I add a little alum to help crispness.
Bring the syrup ingredients to a boil.
Add vegetables.
Heat thoroughly, but do not overcook.
Can in sterile jars.
Makes a crisp pickle.
