Okra Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 slices bacon, chopped
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 lb. fresh okra, sliced
    2 c. canned tomatoes with juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    In a heavy skillet over medium high heat, cook bacon, onion and okra until lightly browned.
    Coarsely chop tomatoes and add to okra mixture, along with juice.
    Add seasonings, cover and simmer 20 to 30 minutes or until okra is tender.
    Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
