My Best Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 c. hot water
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. molasses
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg.
    Sift dry ingredients. Combine molasses and hot water.
    Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture alternately with molasses mixture.
    Beat after each addition.
    Bake in 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
