Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. yellow or green dry peas
    3 qt. water
    1 medium onion
    1/2 lb. salt pork or ham bone
    pinch of garlic salt
    1 to 2 carrots, cut small
Preparation
    Bring peas to a boil with salt pork.
    Add onion, garlic salt and carrots.
    Simmer 2 to 3 hours, until peas are completely disintegrated.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
    Remove salt pork.
