Scalloped Ham (With Cabbage) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. cooked ham, diced
    1/4 c. flour
    1 1/4 lb. (2-qt.) coarsely shredded cabbage
    1/4 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. milk
    3/4 c. grated American cheese
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine; stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
    Cook until thick.
    Steam or cook cabbage in boiling water for 5 minutes.
    Add cheese and green pepper to white sauce.
    Add diced ham.
    Place a layer of partially cooked cabbage in greased baking dish, then a layer of ham and cheese sauce mixture.
    Repeat layers.
    Melt butter or margarine; mix with crumbs.
    Sprinkle crumbs over mixture in baking dish.
    Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 30 minutes.
    Makes 6 servings.
