Grandma Ray'S Hermits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. Crisco
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. molasses
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 to 3/4 c. raisins and chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients with mixer.
    Stir in rest (except raisins and nuts).
    Mix well, then add raisins and nuts.
    Spread out on ungreased 11 x 17-inch pan with fingers.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 9 minutes.
    Cut into squares when cool. (Great comfort food!)
