Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box yellow cake mix
    4 small boxes French vanilla instant pudding
    2 c. chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
    2 large cans crushed pineapple
    1 large container (12 oz.) Cool Whip
    1 small jar cherries
Preparation
    Cook cake as directed in two 9-inch pans.
    Let cool 3 hours. Slice each layer in two, making 4 layers.
