Bill'S Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 slices bacon, cut in pieces
    4 Tbsp. flour
    pepper to taste
    2 lb. lean beef, cut up
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic
    2 (28 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    2 c. beef broth
    1 c. red wine
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    6 carrots, cut up
    3 stalks celery, cut up
    6 large potatoes, cut up
    1/4 tsp. red pepper
Preparation
    Cook bacon until brown.
    Combine meat, flour and pepper in bowl; mix well.
    Brown meat in bacon fat; stir often.
    Add oil if needed.
    Add onion and garlic.
    Add tomato sauce, broth, wine and thyme.
    Cover and cook slowly, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    Add carrots, celery and potatoes; cook until vegetables are done.
    Serves 3 to 4.
