Butterscotch Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    4 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 c. water
    2/3 c. brown sugar
    1/3 c. corn syrup
Preparation
    Beat egg yolk, add remaining ingredients and mix well.
    Cook in a double boiler, stirring frequently, until thickened.
    Beat vigorously.
    Serve hot or cold over ice cream, pound cake or angel food cake.
