Tomato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. canned tomatoes
    1 medium sized potato, peeled and grated
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. water
    1 medium sized onion, grated
    1/8 tsp. soda
    3 to 4 c. milk
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Mix together the tomatoes, grated potato, butter and water. Cook and stir over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until butter melts and the potato begins to thicken the tomatoes.
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Stir in the soda which prevents curdling, then add the milk.
    Add the grated onion.
    Stir over low heat and cook to desired temperature.
