Play Dough - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. flour
1 c. water and food coloring
1/2 c. salt
1 Tbsp. cooking oil
2 tsp. cream of tartar or powdered alum

Preparation

Place all ingredients in medium size saucepan.
Mix with wire whisk.
Place over medium-low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until consistency of mashed potatoes.
Do not boil. Knead until cool.
Dust with flour if dough is sticky.
Add water if stiff.
Store in airtight container.
