Candied Yams - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 medium sweet potatoes
    1/2 c. butter
    1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Wash potatoes and boil in their skins, covered for 10 minutes or until nearly tender.
    Make up a syrup with remaining ingredients and cook in a small saucepan over high heat until the syrup coats a spoon, about 3 minutes.
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    When potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel and cut lengthwise.
    Lay in buttered baking dish.
    Pour hot syrup over potatoes and bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Baste during baking.
    Serves 4.
