Lime Sticks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    yellow cucumbers or large green ones (the larger, the better)
    2 c. lime
    2 qt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
    green food coloring
    2 gal. water
    4 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers; slice and seed them.
    Use 7 1/2 pounds cucumber sticks.
    Mix lime and water; pour over cucumbers.
    Let stand cold for 24 hours.
    Rinse 3 different times.
    Cool waters; let stand in ice for 3 hours.
    Pour off; drain real good.
    Mix vinegar, sugar and pickling spice.
    Heat until dissolved.
    Let get cold; pour over pickles.
    Let stand cold 12 hours.
    Put on stove; boil hard for 30 minutes.
    While cooking, add turmeric and food coloring.
    Pack tight in jars and seal.
    Makes 10 pints.
