Potato-Leek Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 or 3 leeks
    1 medium onion
    3 or 4 potatoes
    water
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cut off the tops of the leeks an inch or two above the white part.
    Discard the tops and a thin disc at the root end, as with an onion.
    Cut the leeks once lengthwise, and rinse each half under running water.
    Check for mud under outer leaves.
    After rinsing, cut crosswise 2 or 3 times.
