Oatmeal Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 pkg. yeast
1 1/4 c. milk
1 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
2 c. uncooked oats
1/2 c. warm water
1/4 c. shortening
6 to 6 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation

Combine yeast in warm water.
Combine milk and 1 cup water. Scald milk before using.
Pour scalded liquid over shortening, sugar and salt.
Stir until melted.
When lukewarm, add 2 cups flour and softened yeast.
Then oats.
Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
Knead until smooth and soft, about 10 minutes.
Place in greased bowl and brush top with melted shortening.
Let rise about 1 hour.
Punch down, let rest 10 minutes.
Shape into 2 loaves in greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. Brush with melted shortening.
Let rise about 45 minutes.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
