Springtime Skillet Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. fat
    1 clove garlic
    1 c. finely diced onion
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    5 to 6 c. water
    1 c. finely diced carrots
    1 c. finely diced potatoes
    1 to 2 tsp. soy or Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Brown garlic in fat in 10-inch skillet.
    Remove garlic, then add onion and beef.
    Cook until browned.
    Add rice and water. Simmer, uncovered, over low heat 40 minutes.
    Add carrots and potatoes.
    Continue simmering until tender (20 minutes).
    Add seasonings.
    Serve hot, garnished with parsley.
    Makes 6 servings.
