Six Pound Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. white sugar
    1 pt. white syrup
    2 sticks butter
    2 c. Pet milk
    1 lb. nuts, broken
Preparation
    Cook, stirring constantly, until reaches soft ball stage on candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat; start beating with mixer until it gets too hard to beat, then beat with wooden spoon.
    Add nuts before beating with wooden spoon.
    Beat until stiff.
    Drop by spoon on waxed paper.
    If it gets too hard before all is dropped, set pan in hot water and leave until you finish dropping.
