Orange Bowknots - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. milk
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 well beaten eggs
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/4 c. orange juice
    2 Tbsp. grated orange peel
    5 c. flour
Preparation
    Scald milk.
    Add shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in this mixture.
    Add eggs, orange juice and peel; beat thoroughly.
    Add flour; mix until a soft dough.
    Cover; let stand 10 minutes.
    Knead on lightly floured surface.
    Place in greased bowl; let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 2 hours.
    Punch down.
    Roll dough 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut in a 10-inch strip, 1/2-inch
    wide.
    Tie each in a knot.
    Arrange on a greased baking sheet.
    Cover.
    Let rise until doubled.
    Bake in hot 400\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes.
    Spread with orange topping.
    (Can omit orange peel.)
