Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 cucumbers (large)
    2 c. white vinegar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 c. sugar
    turmeric (optional)
    alum (optional)
    onions
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers; soak in salt brine overnight, also onions. Bring vinegar, water, mustard seed and sugar to a boil.
    Add cucumbers and onions.
    Boil about 3 minutes.
    Put in jars and seal at once.
    Add turmeric if you want it yellow.
    Can also add a little alum if you like.

    Yellow cucumbers would be best.
