Divinity Fudge - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. light corn syrup
2 egg whites
1/2 c. water
Preparation

Place sugar, syrup and water in pan over slow flame.
Stir only until sugar is dissolved.
Then cook until a soft ball forms (236\u00b0).
Beat egg whites at #8 speed until stiff.
Continue beating.
Pour 1/2 of the syrup slowly over beaten egg whites. Cook rest of syrup until it forms a hard ball when dropped in a cup of cold water, until it cracks when hit against the side of a cup (280\u00b0).
Add syrup gradually to the syrup and egg mixture.
Add vanilla and keep heating until candy is thick enough to drop from spoon.
Place the spoonfuls in buttered platters.
Makes 35 to 40 pieces.
Nuts may be added, if desired, just before candy is ready to spoon.
