Granny George'S Old-Fashion Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. soda
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream the shortening and sugar thoroughly; add egg and beat until creamy.
    Add soda, dissolved in vinegar in a cup, then mix with the other mixed ingredients.
    Add vanilla and then add flour gradually to make a stiff batter that can be rolled very thin. Cut out and bake at 350\u00b0 until brown.
    Sprinkle sugar on top while hot.
    They are very crisp and continue to taste fresh after 2 weeks.
