"Smashed" Apricots(Serves 12) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter, divided into thirds
    2 (28 oz.) cans apricots, drained
    2 boxes light brown sugar
    1 (1 lb.) box Ritz crackers, crushed by hand
Preparation
    Layer as follows into a 3-quart casserole: butter, apricots, sugar and crackers.
    Repeat.
    Layer a total of 3 times.
    Bake 1 hour at 300\u00b0 until lightly browned and bubbly.
    Good side dish with ham.
