Banana Nut Cake - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. soft shortening
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 1/4 c. mashed bananas (about 3) *
3 eggs
another 1/3 cup buttermilk
2/3 c. finely chopped nuts
Preparation

Grease and flour two 9-inch or one 13 x 9-inch pan.
Sift together first 5 ingredients.
Add next 3 ingredients; beat 2 minutes.
Add eggs and buttermilk.
Beat 2 more minutes.
Fold in nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0 in 9-inch pans for 35 minutes or oblong pan for 45 to 50 minutes.
