Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 firm green tomatoes
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 c. dry seasoned bread crumbs
    1/3 c. margarine
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes into slices 3/4-inch thick.
    Dip into egg, then into bread crumbs.
    Carefully dip into egg and crumbs again. Melt butter in large skillet on low heat.
    Add green tomato slices and cook slowly until golden on each side (turning only once).
    Tomatoes will be tender.
    Season to taste at table.
    Serve hot. Yields 4 servings.
