Cherry Dessert(Fit For A King) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained
    1 (20 oz.) can Comstock pie filling
    1 box white, lemon or yellow cake mix
    1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine, cut in thin slices
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    whipped cream or ice cream
Preparation
    Spread pie filling and pineapple in bottom of 9 x 13-inch dish, sprinkle cake mix over fruit, place thin slices of butter over cake mix.
    Bake 45 to 60 minutes (45 minutes is usually plenty) at 350\u00b0.
    Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts over cake mix, if desired.
    Serve warm or cold.
