Kahlua - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. water
    4 oz. instant coffee
    1/5 vodka (100 proof)
    1 vanilla bean
Preparation
    Bring sugar and water to a boil, then thoroughly add coffee a little at a time.
    Bring to boil again.
    Cool completely.
    Slit vanilla bean from top to bottom without splitting clear through. Add this and vodka to mixture.
    Make sure it is cool.
    Place in 1/2 gallon jar and cap tightly.
    Let stand for 2 weeks or more, turning upside-down once or twice.
