Shanghai Chicken Wings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. chicken wings
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 slices fresh ginger (grated), size of a quarter
    1/3 c. soy sauce
    2 Tbsp. dry sherry
    3 cloves star anise (3 to 8 point cloves)
Preparation
    Wash the chicken wings and dry with paper towels.
    Cut off the tips and cut the wing in half at the joint.
    Save the wing tips for chicken stock, if you wish.
    Grate the fresh ginger and set aside.
