Chicken Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. butter
    1 egg
    3/4 c. milk
    1 whole chicken
Preparation
    Simmer chicken in 4 cups water for 1 hour.
    Remove chicken from broth.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Cut in butter.
    Beat egg and add milk; stir this into dry ingredients (batter should be quite stiff).
    Drop by spoonfuls into chicken broth (or roll in flour like biscuits).
    Cover pot.
    Raise flame to 1/4 flame.
    Steam for about 20 minutes without lifting cover. Remove cover and serve with or without chicken.
